Make Way for Literacy - Poetry and Young Children
Join us as we explore the many ways to use poetry, rhyme and verse
with young children (preschool through third grade) to support subject
matter, themes and the development of literacy. Use daily “poetry
breaks” to brighten your day with movement, drama art, comedy and
fun!
Presenter: Linda Conyers holds a B.S. in English from IUSB and a Masters of
Library Science from IU. Linda has worked with children all her life (including 5 of her own and 4 grandchildren) in preschools and over 20 years with the St. Joseph
County Public Library, including many years in Children’s Services, presenting
storytimes and lapsits. She taught Children’s Literature for IUSB’s English
Department for 8 years.

Come learn about the Foundations to the Indiana Academic Standards for Young Children Birth-Age 5. The purpose of the Foundations are to assist the adults in providing developmentally appropriate activities for young children that will support the child's growth and development.
