Child Care Aware Parent Network webinars are presented by child care experts to give you information about high-quality child care and other topics that are of interest to you. They are designed specifically for busy parents, grandparents, advocates, and professionals who to learn more but have very little time. The Indianapolis Reggio Collaboration Invite You To Attend

“The Wonder of Learning” exhibit will be located in the Atrium of the Indiana State House in Indianapolis, IN from July 17-December 18, 2009. Indianapolis is the first Midwestern city and only the third North American community to host this exhibit. Exhibition sponsors include the Indianapolis Reggio Collaborative and a broad coalition of educational and civic partners. Admission to the exhibit is free and it is open during State House business hours.
Exhibit organizers will also offer a series of workshops and conferences addressing the integration of the visual arts in classrooms and issues of diversity, social justice and equity in early childhood education.  A conference schedule is listed below. 
Closing Conference:  Impact and Implications of Reggio Emilia in Advocating for Social Justice for all of Indiana's Young Children
December 11-12, 2009
Speakers:  Dr. Lilian Katz and Barbara Acton
Registration Fee:  $100 ($10 discount for NAREA members)
Fee includes lunch on Saturday.
All conferences are held in downtown Indianapolis.

SHARED INFORMATION SERVICES

Shared Information Services (SIS) is a unique lending library and a little-known gem located in Muncie, IN. We loan quality educational resources, free of charge, to any adult resident of Indiana.

 

 

SIS is funded through a grant from the Indiana Department of Education / Division of Exceptional Learners; and although it primarily focuses on materials appropriate for use with high ability students, there is a vast assortment of available resources for all learners from preschool through high school.  Whether it be topics from standard curricula to foreign languages, research and study skills, critical thinking, problem-based learning, interdisciplinary units, or manipulatives, kits, or games we have them!  We also lend journals, periodicals, current books and kits, and videos dealing with a wide array of topics: exceptional children, differentiation, professional and staff development, graphic organizers, assessment tools, classroom management, counseling, child development, and parenting (to name a few).  For the convenience of our patrons, our resource catalog is also available online at www.bsu.edu/sis.

 

 

SIS is located in Burris Laboratory School, Room 120, on the Ball State University campus. Our hours are 7:30 to 4:30 (academic year) and 7:30 – 4:00 p.m. (summer), Monday – Friday. You are welcome to schedule a visit to the center, where you can receive a short orientation and peruse our collection. Or, if you prefer, our coordinator is also available to schedule mobile visits to your location and bring materials to suit your request of topics, whether it be for educators or parents. Contact SIS at 765-285-8617 to request these special services, available anywhere within the State of Indiana.
